As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of residential and commercial water heaters, A. O. Smith is focused on delivering solutions for virtually every hot water need. Evidence of that commitment is the company’s new line of A. O. Smith On-Demand gas water heaters.
The company has upgraded the ATI-305 model and the ATI-505 model offering increased flow rates and, in the case of the base 305 model, improved energy factor ratings. The 180,000 BTU ATI-305 delivers an increased flow rate of up to 7.5 gallons per minute. The 199,000 BTU ATI-505 model’s flow rate is up to 9.4 gallons per minute.
The ATI 305 and ATI-505 are Energy Star ® rated as high-efficiency appliances. They also qualify for the $1,500 personal income tax credit announced earlier this year by the federal government.
Rounding out the line is the ATI-705, a 237,000 BTU model with a flow rate of up to 9.8 gallons per minute. As with all tankless water heaters, it is important to know the temperature of the incoming ground water as well as the number of hot water-consuming appliances and fixtures in the household in order to properly size the water heater for the specific application.
A. O. Smith offers tankless water heaters for indoor or outdoor applications as well as natural gas and propane units. All of the models come equipped with direct electronic ignitions (no pilot lights) as well as integrated electronics that offer precise temperature control (with a temperature range between 98 degrees F to 140 degrees F), flow status monitoring, and diagnostics.
The ATI-305 and ATI-505 indoor units come in direct-vent designs using a concentric vent pipe with outer plastic sleeve. A. O. Smith On-Demand units can be manifolded for high-demand applications. For commercial applications, A. O. Smith offers a line of ASME certified models.
