Air Conditioners & Heat Pumps
Whirlpool® air conditioners and heat pumps range from 13 to 18 SEER, with select models featuring the new, environmentally friendly R410A refrigerant. This refrigerant is not only better for the environment because it is chlorine-free, it also transfers heat more efficiently. If your cooling system is more than 10 years old it most likely has a rating of 10 SEER or less. Replacing it with a more energy-efficient system can make a big impact on your energy use.
Gas Furnaces
Furnace operating efficiency is measured by the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating, which measures the percentage of heat delivered to your home from each unit of fuel. Whirlpool brand gas furnaces range from 80% to 95% AFUE. If your furnace is more than 20 years old it likely has an AFUE rating of 60% or less. Upgrading to a new, high-efficiency system will not only save money on annual energy costs it can significantly reduce your furnace’s pollution output.
Hybrid Heating
Whirlpool® hybrid heating systems consist of an electric heat pump and a gas furnace that alternately work to maintain desired indoor temperature and humidity levels. The choice of two fuel sources in these systems means greater operational efficiency and the flexibility to respond to fluctuating energy prices, as needed. This can translate into lower utility bills when thermostats are set correctly.
Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air can be 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Proper humidity control and air filtration are vital for healthy indoor air. Whirlpool® AirCare™ Whole Home Dehumidifiers help reduce the most common allergy-producing organisms found in the home and have the highest dehumidification capacity in the industry. Select models feature anti-bacterial UV protection and HEPA filtration for even more defense against indoor pollutants.
Air Handlers
Working together with your outdoor heating and cooling unit, the indoor air handler efficiently circulates air, cool or warm, throughout your home for maximum comfort and efficiency.
